alergic reaction to foam putty or floam?

Q: children modeling of things. He polystyrene beads in a certain type of putty-like plastic. I can not find any info anywhere on the bins or on content sites. Need info if anyone can help. I asked this hobby but it was probably the wrong place.

A: Well, my 4 year old daughter has had a breakout full hive body playing with Floam, it was severe. The hives continued to come for 3 days and eventually covered her entire body. She never had hives or an allergic reaction before.

What is plastic wood?

I know about artificial woods made of plastic, but that's not what I'm talking about. I assume it's something like wood putty, but I'm not possotive.
