I have some space constraints that limit the use of a radial pump for creating a vacuum in a chamber. Could an axial compressor be used as effective vacuum pump? Thanks.
It depends on what level of vacuum. If you are just trying to pull a few inches of mercury, then yes. If you are talking high vacuums, then you would use a turbo molecular pump (which is an axial flow device).
