axial or rotary hydraulic motor for longevity?
I am torn between these two types of motors. I was planning on using a rotary that would produce 1 to 3rpm(I want it to vary in speed) and between 3500 and 4000 lbs of torque(the rpm rating is more important then the torque rating i need it to produce
I equate efficiency with lifetime.
Speed control with belt drives, gearboxes and hydraulic couplings all add to system inefficiency, so I would go with the variable speed motor and the fewest system components that still do the job.
