Q: In the book from the hands of steel, 2010 edition, pages 1-126 and 1-127 have two cards to a maximum depth ratio. Page 1-126 relating to elements in axial compression and Page 1-127 deals with elements in compression bending....

A: Axial refers to strength over the entire length of the steel beam.
Refers to the bending force perpendicular to the length of the beam.

Is it easier to break a concrete beam by subjecting it to bending or (axial) compression? explain reason for your answer.

Bending. Concrete does not support tension loads so the beam will crack through starting from the side that is in tension.
